Bio
Erin Mallon (1989) was born and grew up in CA, USA and lives and works in Basel. She is an artist, writer, translator and art mediator. In 2019 her daughter Billie was born.
Erin Mallon’s work combines biographical and fictive elements to formulate questions about the role of the everyday in artistic production––and vice versa. Whether it’s in essays which investigate the narrating and reading instances’ proximity to the text; in stories which immerse the reader in the intimate space of a narrator’s sensorial reality; or in installations which work with omission and gaps to reshape the receptive experience of a text; her work is concerned with situations and the ways we make sense of things within them. Erin Mallon has an MA in Art and Design Education and am MA in Contemporary Arts Practice. From 2015-2020 she was active in the artist collaboration Haystack News with Daniel Tschumi, which was initiated as a two-year artistic bicycle trip across Eurasia. Alongside her artistic practice, she is a guest lecturer in the BA and MA programs at the Institute for Art and Design Education at the Academy of Art and Design Basel. She works as a freelance translator in the field of artistic research and has been employed as Coordinator at the Swiss Artistic Research Network since 2018, where she is also an active member of the NewsLibrary work group and editor of the #microreview series. |
