Erin Mallon (*1989) was born and grew up in rural CA, USA. She is a writer, an artist, art mediator, and Billie's mom. She lives and works in Basel, CH.
Erin Mallon has an MA in Art and Design Education and am MA in Contemporary Arts Practice: Creative Writing and Literary Translation and works in, between and at the verge of literary and artistic forms. Her writing has been published in Das Narr (CH) and presented in the Alte Billettkasse at Theater Basel. The experience of living between languages shapes her work, in which rhythm, tempo, translation and mis-translation play central roles. She is particularly interested in modes of writing which explore the relationships between experience, memory, bio-graphy and text. An interest in the cultural and personal myths we use to make sense of things within our lives underlies and motivates her work. Erin Mallon is a lecturer of creative writing and art education in the BA and MA programs at the Institute for Art and Design Education at the Academy of Art and Design Basel, where she also heads the Learning Lab. She has worked as a freelance translator in the arts and particularly in the field of artistic research since 2014 and is, together with Frank Westermeyer (HEAD Genève), Co-President of the Swiss Artistic Research Network. From 2018-2026, she was Coordinator at SARN, where she was also an active member of the NewsLibrary work group and co-initator and editor of the #microreview series. From 2015-2020 she was active in the artist collaboration Haystack News with Daniel Tschumi, which was initiated as a two-year artistic bicycle trip across Eurasia. |
